Viking DCIH3604 Island Hood Service
The DCIH3604 is a retired 36-inch Designer chimney island hood. It hangs from the ceiling above an island cooktop, with no wall behind it, so it has to draw smoke from every side.
The mounting gets our attention first, because a hood suspended from the ceiling must be secure. We check the bracket, the chimney sections and the fasteners. A blower that will not start is tested at the capacitor, bearing and speed control. Overheat protection tripping in an island hood is commonly a restricted duct: the run up through the ceiling is long and the cap outside may be blocked.
We replace darkened bulbs and burned sockets. Retired parts are confirmed before quoting. You see a written price first, and the repair has a 30-day workmanship warranty.
It is supported only from above. A loose bracket or backed-out screw can let it shift or drop, so we secure it right away. We would rather add a bracket than risk a fall.
The duct runs up through the ceiling and may be restricted at the damper or exterior cap. We inspect the full run. Cleaning the cap and damper often stops the trips.
Not safely. We use a ladder, replace the bulbs and sockets and make sure the lights are secure. Overhead work around a hot hood is done only when it has cooled.
