On Viking Professional VICU206 and VICU266 induction cooktops, the hybrid VCCU106 and VCCU166, and the VISC530 induction range, code 1 means the element does not recognize a compatible cooking vessel. Pan detection takes priority over the residual-heat display, so the zone shows a flashing indicator at one flash per second. The code can also appear if Boost is selected on a zone with no suitable pan on it. The cooktop itself is usually fine.
1. Check that the pan is magnetic by holding a refrigerator magnet to its base; it should stick firmly. 2. Center the pan on the zone and make sure the base is flat and dry. 3. Switch the zone off and on again. 4. If a known good magnetic pan still triggers the code, call us.
Usually not. It tells you the zone cannot find a pan it can heat. Try a flat, magnetic pan centered on the circle first. Only if that fails does the zone itself need a look.
Boost still needs a compatible pan on the zone. If the zone is empty or the pan is not magnetic, the cooktop shows code 1 instead of starting to heat.
Pans that a magnet sticks to, with a flat bottom that sits fully on the glass. Aluminum, copper and glass without a magnetic layer will not be sensed, so the zone stays cold.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
