Viking RVEC3456B Electric Cooktop
The RVEC3456B is a wide radiant electric cooktop from the 3 Series family, set into a countertop with several independent zones under one sheet of ceramic glass. It was discontinued, but wide electric tops like this one often stay in service in long counters and islands.
Over time the elements lose some of their speed, and the infinite switches or touch controls may start acting inconsistent. Moisture around the control area is a regular culprit, and the glass can chip at the edge when heavy cookware is dropped. We start by testing power at the terminal block, then measure the element that is giving trouble, and finally check the switch that drives it. Pricing is explained in writing first.
Wide tops need a steady cutout, so we also check that the cooktop sits level.
Often yes, if the glass is intact. An element or switch is a modest repair compared with replacing a wide cooktop and altering the cutout. We tell you the cost first so you can decide.
A weakening element, a loose connection, or a worn switch can all slow heating. We measure resistance and voltage at the element to find which one it is.
That control or the board channel behind it may have failed, or moisture may be affecting the contact. We dry and inspect it, then test the signal to the element.
