The VGWT240 is a retired Classic gas wok/cooker, 24 inches wide, a specialty module built for the high, concentrated heat that wok cooking depends on. It is typically installed next to other cooking modules in a counter run or as a stand-alone feature.
A wok burner lives a hard life. Oil splatter, steam and heavy tossing coat the burner ring and the electrode, and the flame near the ring can turn uneven as ports clog. The valve is another point of wear because it is opened fully so often.
We clean the ring, test the spark and check the flame around the whole circle. If gas smells strongly, get out of the house and call the gas utility from outside. The price is written before work and workmanship is covered for 30 days.
Some ports are blocked, so gas does not reach that segment. We clean each port with a proper tool and then watch the flame travel around the ring.
Wipe the area once it cools, and do a deeper cleaning of the ring regularly. Oil and steam build up quickly in this type of burner.
Heavy use and grease can stiffen it. A stiff valve should be looked at, because a valve that does not close fully can leak gas.
