VCRT301

Viking VCRT301 Induction/Radiant Rangetop

Most common issues on this model

  1. Induction zone not heating or cutting out
  2. Radiant element slow or staying cold
  3. Pan not detected on an induction zone
  4. Cooling fan loud

The VCRT301 combines two ways of cooking on one 30-inch glass ceramic surface: MagneQuick induction and QuickCook radiant elements. It is a retired Professional Series model, installed in a counter cutout, with oversized knobs that control both kinds of zone. Because both technologies share one glass panel, a spill on either side lands on the same surface.

That mix is also what shapes its service calls. Induction zones depend on a generator, a fan and a pan that responds to the magnetic field, while the radiant elements depend on switches and clean terminals. We have to work out which side is complaining before replacing anything.

We test with magnetic cookware, check the fan for dust and measure the radiant elements. The price is written before we repair, and we back our work for 30 days.

VCRT301VCRT301 questions
Only the induction side of my VCRT301 stopped working. Why?

The induction generator or its cooling fan is the likely cause, since the radiant elements use a separate circuit. We test the fan first and then the generator output.

Can I use any pan on the radiant zones?

Yes, radiant elements heat any flat-bottomed cookware. Only the induction zones need magnetic pans, and a magnet that clings to the base is a good test.

What damages a glass ceramic surface?

Dragging rough-bottomed pans, sugar spills left to harden, and heavy impacts. Wipe sugar spills quickly and lift pots instead of sliding them. Cleaning with a cooktop cleaner made for glass ceramic, and not with scouring powder, keeps the finish smooth.
