On Viking induction cooktops built on the E.G.O. platform, such as the Professional VICU206 and VICU266 and the hybrid VCCU106, Er31 reports an interface error. Interface boards are pre-programmed for a specific inductor layout, so a replacement board that does not match that layout gives Er31. The same table applies to the VISC530 induction range. It usually shows up right after a board was replaced or swapped.
1. Turn all zones off. 2. Switch the breaker off for one minute and back on. 3. Check whether the code returns when you start a zone. 4. Do not try to swap boards yourself. 5. Call us with the model number and tell us if a board was recently replaced.
Interface boards are pre-programmed for specific inductor setups. If the replacement was for a different layout, the cooktop rejects it and shows Er31. Tell us who replaced it.
A power reset will not change a mismatched board. The correct board must be installed by a technician. It also helps to tell us whether the cooktop worked before the swap.
The full model number and serial from the data plate, and when a board was last replaced. We quote in writing first and cover the repair for 30 days.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
