Viking VGIQ554241 54-Inch Ultra-Premium Grill
The VGIQ554241 is a retired 54-inch Ultra-Premium gas grill with a TruSear infrared burner. We have only these basics on it, so a visit relies on inspection and testing, not assumptions about additional features.
A 54-inch grill puts heavy demands on its gas supply, so we measure pressure with all burners on before anything else. Next we look at the infrared burner: ceramic condition, the igniter and the air that feeds it. Burners that light late are usually dealing with damp electrodes or partly blocked ports, and corroded fittings are replaced to stop seepage.
We check the shutoff location and ventilation if the grill is built in. If a gas odor is present, close the supply and phone the utility from outside. Parts for a retired grill are confirmed before we quote, the price is written, and the repair carries 30 days of warranty.
Gas pressure with all burners on. Weak ends and a weak sear zone often come from supply rather than from the burners. If pressure is fine, we move to the ports and ceramic.
A damp electrode, weak spark or partial blockage in the ports. We dry, regap or clean to restore quick ignition. A moisture-damaged electrode is the most common cause after rain.
Light surface corrosion can be, but a fitting that is pitted or seeping must be replaced. We soap-test to decide. Replacement fittings are inexpensive, and leaving them risks a leak.
