Viking VGIQ54224 42-Inch Infrared Grill
The VGIQ54224 is a retired 42-inch Professional 5 Series gas grill with a TruSear infrared burner, 25,000 BTU stainless steel main burners and a heavy-duty rotisserie. It could be built into an enclosure or stainless cabinetry or placed on a cart.
Repeated clicking tells us the igniter is working but the burner is not catching, which sends us to the gas path. We check that the valve opens, the orifice is clear and the burner ports are free of debris. If the infrared burner will not stay lit, its sensing circuit and air supply are tested next.
Main burners that run unevenly are cleaned, and their flames compared. The rotisserie motor is tested under weight. A gas smell calls for closing the supply and phoning the utility from outside. The model is retired, so we check part availability first, quote in writing and warrant our repair for 30 days.
The spark module is working but the burner is not catching. Gas may be blocked, the electrode out of position or the ports clogged. Stopping after a few attempts keeps unburned gas from collecting.
It was offered for enclosures, cabinetry or a cart. In a built-in we also check ventilation, clearance and shutoff access. We also check heat damage to nearby cabinet surfaces during any such service visit.
Its ports or venturi are probably partly blocked. We clean them and compare flame height with the neighbors. One burner behaving differently is rarely a supply issue.
