Viking VGIQ542241 Infrared Grill Repair
The VGIQ542241 combines standard grill burners with a TruSear infrared burner on a 42-inch Ultra-Premium body. Infrared works differently from an open flame: gas heats a ceramic surface until it glows, and that surface is where most problems begin.
Grease drips onto the ceramic, burns off and slowly chokes its small openings. Rapid cooling, such as cold water on a hot burner, can crack the element. When only the infrared zone is weak while the other burners behave, we examine the ceramic, the air supply to the infrared burner and its igniter, instead of touching the regulator.
We treat the gas side the same as on any grill. If you smell gas, close the supply, walk away and call the gas utility from outside. Our price is written before work starts, and the repair carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Burned-on grease can block parts of the ceramic, and a cracked element glows unevenly. We inspect the surface, clean what we can and replace damaged ceramic.
Never spray a hot infrared burner. Thermal shock can crack the ceramic. Let it cool, then follow a dry burn-off or soft brushing, and call us if cracks appear.
Yes, they run on separate valves and igniters. We confirm that by lighting each burner, then focus on the infrared zone's valve, igniter and ceramic.
