Viking VWH24481 Deep Wall Hood
The VWH24481 is a retired Professional Series wall hood, 24 inches deep. The depth is the notable part: it reaches out over the front burners, where a shallower hood might let steam slip by.
A deep hood relies on its filters and blower to pull steam back under the canopy, so our first checks are the filters and the wheel. We clean and refit the filters, look for grease on the wheel and motor, and run each speed. The lights and controls are tested, and the damper is watched in the duct. Because the hood projects forward, we also check its wall mounting for any looseness.
The price is in writing before we start, and a 30-day workmanship warranty covers the repair.
Not the method, only the reach. A deep canopy has more underside to wipe, and we clean it while we have the filters out. Because the hood reaches forward, we use extra care to avoid scratching the underside.
The wall mounting may have loosened over time. We check the fasteners and tighten them, which also stops rattles. A heavy canopy pulls on its wall mount, and loose screws let it droop.
Filters must fit the channel and seal properly. We check the fit and replace any that sit crooked or let grease bypass. Replacement filters should match the channel in size and thickness.
