Viking VDD5300 5 Series Downdraft
The VDD5300 is a current 30-inch 5 Series downdraft, with variable fan speeds, a heat sensor, LED lighting and an 18-inch-high chimney rise. A downdraft is installed behind a 30-inch cooktop or range, and the chimney rises when you cook.
The rise is the part that most often needs attention: it can catch on debris or loosen over time, and a cook who lifts it daily will notice any change at once. We check its travel first, then the filters and the slot behind the cooktop. The blower below is inspected, and the variable fan speeds are tested one by one. The heat sensor is tested by watching how the fan reacts, and the LED lighting is checked last.
Our price is given in writing first, and the work is covered by a 30-day workmanship warranty.
It lifts the intake to 18 inches high while you cook, which helps capture steam. If it sticks, we clean the track and check the mechanism.
The heat sensor or its wiring may have failed. We test them before replacing the blower. A failed sensor is a small repair, while a new blower is a much larger one.
Spills that reach the intake can wet the filters and the blower housing. We clean what we can reach and check the electrical parts for moisture.
