Viking VBCV54838 Custom Ventilator Service
The VBCV54838 is a current 48-inch 5 Series built-in custom ventilator, 18 inches high, with heat lamps, dimmable lighting controls and a heat sensor. The LED bulbs are described as long-life and replaceable by the owner, and the heat lamp bulbs are not supplied with the product.
It was designed for installation in a custom hood over a 48-inch range, so access depends on how the builder shaped the enclosure. On a service visit we check the heat sensor response, the dimmer and LED lighting, and the heat lamps. Then we clean the filters, inspect the blower and motor and test the damper. A 48-inch ventilator moves a lot of air, so a sluggish damper is something we always check.
The price is written down first, and a 30-day workmanship warranty stands behind the work.
The heat lamp bulbs are not supplied with the product and are bought locally. We can confirm the right type from the lamp socket and your hood.
The dimmer control, its wiring or the LED driver could be the cause. We test the control first, because it is the simplest and cheapest part to check.
Our checks focus on whether it responds. If the fan never speeds up with heat, we test the sensor and its connection. The sensor is not something an owner adjusts, so a fix means testing and replacing parts.
