Viking DTWS36491 Slim Hood Service

Most common issues on this model

  1. Low suction at the burners
  2. Grease on the filters
  3. Burned-out lamps
  4. Switch intermittent

The DTWS36491 is a 36-inch slim traditional wall hood from the Designer Series, the width many owners select for a 36-inch range. Its slimmer profile keeps it close to the wall and out of the way of cabinets on either side.

Our service begins by removing the filters and checking them for grease and dents. We then examine the blower wheel for deposits and test the motor on every speed. The damper is watched while the fan runs, and the lamps and sockets are checked one at a time. Anything we find is explained before we replace it. Everything is re-fitted before we run a last full test with the lights on.

You get a written price first, and a 30-day workmanship warranty covers our repair.

DTWS36491DTWS36491 questions
Will a slim hood capture as much steam as a deeper one?

Capture depends on width, installation height and a clean blower. We cannot change the design, but we can restore the airflow it had when new.

How do you test the damper?

We run the fan and watch the flap at the duct opening. If it stays closed or flutters, we free it and clean the hinge.

Is it worth replacing burned-out bulbs myself?

Yes, if the hood is cool and unplugged. If a new bulb fails quickly, the socket is probably worn, and we can repair it. We bring a few common bulbs with us.
